PEP BAND BOOT CAMP -- On Monday, August 14, 2023, Western Plains 6th Graders participated in Pep Band Boot Camp to help them prepare for their first year in Pep Band. They spent a full day at South Elementary practicing the fight song, "The Star Spangled Banner," and timeout shorts. We also had fun on breaks: an outside recess, a taco bar lunch, and line dancing. We ended the day with homemade ice cream. These kids not only devoted the practice time on Monday, they also attended summer school band. They are talented musicians who enjoy music and being involved in their school!

At the end of this school year, Western Plains will complete its 20th year as a school district. Our theme for this year was submitted by Asa Cole, a 6th Grader, and it was approved by the Board of Education in July. Western Plains' theme for our 20th year is: 20 years of teaching 240 months of school work 7304 days of lifelong learning 175,320 hours of countless memories and THE BEST IS YET TO COME! WE ARE WESTERN PLAINS! #BOBCAT STRONG! Asa's favorite subject in school is math, so it's not surprising that his theme was centered around the math of 20 years. Asa is a student who is very involved in school. He enjoys participating in Scholars Bowl, athletics, Band, Choir, and school events. We thank Asa for his school pride and for his clever idea to help us celebrate 20 years of excellence in education!

Due to the forecasted weather on Tuesday April 25th we will be postponing our field day. Rain and colder weather is forecasted making it more than likely a less than desirable day for everyone. We do want and need the rain so we will be happy to see it rain. Western Plains will be rescheduling our elementary Field Day now on Wednesday, May 10th at Western Plains North Football Field and Track in Ransom beginning at 12:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend and cheer on our Junior Bobcats with hopefully a sunny calm day. Please dress accordingly, bring sunscreen, a folding chair, and your own water bottles. We will hope and plan for a better day of weather for our students to participate. Thank you for your support. Respectfully, Coach Spangler Western Plains PE Teacher Go Bobcats!!
